Canada House is the home of the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom.

The UK Serious Fraud Office is also based here.

It hosts consular facilities for Canadians to renew passports or apply for emergency assistance, visa and immigration processing services, a military liaison office, trade officers, political officers and a public affairs section. Canada House is used for special events, hosting conferences, receptions, lectures and lunches. The Canada House Gallery stages exhibitions of historical and contemporary art and artefacts.

The SFO is a specialist prosecuting authority tackling the top level of serious or complex fraud, bribery and corruption.

We are part of the UK criminal justice system covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but not Scotland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

We take on a small number of large economic crime cases. The Director may investigate any suspected offence which appears to her on reasonable grounds to involve serious or complex fraud.

In considering whether to authorise an investigation the Director will take into account the actual or intended harm that may be caused to:

- the public, or
- the reputation and integrity of the UK as an international financial centre, or
- the economy and prosperity of the UK

and whether the complexity and nature of the suspected offence warrants the application of the SFO’s specialist skills, powers and capabilities to investigate and prosecute.

We also pursue criminals for the financial benefit they have made from their crimes and assist overseas jurisdictions with their investigations into serious and complex fraud, bribery and corruption cases. Since 30 September 2017 we have had the power to investigate and prosecute the new offence of corporate failure to prevent the facilitation of overseas tax evasion.

We are unusual in the UK in that we both investigate and prosecute our cases. We were set up this way because these kinds of cases are complicated and lawyers and investigators need to work together from the beginning.

Upgrade/Design and install a New CCTV System to cover the entire site with over 50 cameras, internally & externally with high-resolution 4k cameras, 360 Fisheye cameras, PTZ & ANPR cameras, all to be monitored remotely by an ARC and the owners.

We also installed a new Thermal imaging system to provide alerts for COVID 19 and anyone showing signs of high temperature.

We also took over and updated the existing Texecom intruder alarm system and C-Tec Fire alarm systems and added ARC monitoring with Police & Brigade response.

The first fix was designed and carried out by us in collaboration with the owner/builder.

Design & install a Grade 2 compliant intruder alarm system conforms to PD6662:2010 & BS8243 with wired and wireless technology. Dualcom UDL GPRS Monitoring with annual maintenance.

We used a Texecom Premier Elite alarm panel with integrated smoke detection.

CCTV Spec:

System Purpose (Overall):

Design and install an IP HD CCTV system intended to comply with National Security Inspectorate Code of Practice NCP 104 (Design, Installation and Maintenance of CCTV Systems) including the requirements of BS EN 50132-7: 1996, with particular reference to clause 7.11 of NCP 104.

For the purposes of Prevention and detection of crime. Apprehension and identification of trespassers.

The system is networked for remote viewing and playback of images via a pc/tablet or phone app.

We have used line crossing technology for intruder detection alerts.

Access Control Spec:

Supply and install a Fermax Smile! Video intercom system intended to comply with National Security Inspectorate Code of Practice NCP 109 (Design, Installation and Maintenance of Access Control Systems)

This is for the user to view who is at the gated entrance and to enable access.

Access can also be granted via the CCTV app remotely.

Spec:

After a number of high value thefts and unwanted trespassers just walking on to site, this client needed a system that could notify them when anyone enters the perimeter of the site. As a large farm with lots of buildings and plant being driven around, they needed a loud audible notification as well a visual. The system serves a dual purpose; to notify them if a customer or delivery arrives or if unwanted persons are on site.

We used a Texecom Premier Elite 48 alarm panel. Takex & Optex IR External beams perimeter detection, HIkVision IP CCTV

Property
A 3 storey office building which had been reconstructed in 1991 behind a Listed façade in a prime Town Centre location. The accommodation comprised 14,000 sq ft of air-conditioned offices and 23 car parking spaces.
Transaction
We purchased the vacant building in early 2005.
Following the refurbishment, the building was let in floors to Hays Recruitment plc, Handlesbank, European Healthcare Ltd, Leapfrog Toys plc, Lavazza Coffee Ltd and ThirdForce plc. All the leases were for 10 year terms.
Planning and refurbishment
We instructed architects to design a new reception area and to create an additional floor of offices at roof level. A planning application was submitted and permission was obtained for a 18,125 sq ft net building in mid-2005.
The refurbishment included replacing the air conditioning with a VRV system, installing new LG7 lighting, raised floors, w.c.s, and lift. The additional floor included a feature glass drum which complemented the listed façade.
